Queer Media Collective
Bimonthly Meetings, Mondays 4-5pm, SUB 0-68a
Join us twice a month to discuss LGBTQ+ media, such as books, tv shows, comics, music, podcasts, and more! We wanted to do a re-imagined book club, as most of our attendees are students who are unable to add another book to their exhaustive reading schedules, therefore we are exploring different types of media. Folks can join whenever and are welcome even if they have not read, watched, or listened to the chosen topic. Come for the free tea and hot chocolate, stay for the scintillating conversations!
Weekly Meetings, Tuesdays 4-5pm, SUB 0-68a
Spectrum, formally “Rainbow Peers”, is a peer to peer mentorship group and conversation space surrounding topics of gender and sexuality, for LGBTQ+, allied, and questioning individuals to get together, share, and have fun! Group meetings are facilitated by trained, welcoming volunteers at The Landing. These groups are an opportunity to meet other students working through issues surrounding gender and sexual identity in a safe, supportive, and facilitated environment. Topics we have covered in the past have ranged from privilege, biphobia, self-care, lgbtq+ representation in the media, types of attraction, etc. all within the lens of “gender and sexuality.” Come and see what our topic is this week!
Queerness & Faith
Weekly Meetings, Wednesdays 3:30-5pm, SUB 0-55
Join us for an open, inclusive, and welcoming dialogue exploring the intersections of queerness and faith. The facilitated discussion group has ranged from having guest speakers of different spiritual and faith identities share about their personal or community experiences to open-discussion on a specific topic. Open to LGBTQ+, allied and questioning individuals of all faiths and spiritualities.
Bimonthly Meetings, Wednesdays 5-6pm, SUB 0-55
A casual hangout space for trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming people of all genders and gender expressions to hang out, share experiences, share resources, and get to know other trans folks in a friendly space every other week. Open to all campus members including students, staff, faculty, alumni, as well as community members!
Monday-Thursday, 10am-4pm, SUB 0-68a
The Landing offers a welcoming and inclusive Drop-In Space. Anyone is welcome to drop-in during these hours and use the space to meet with friends, do homework, chat with one of our knowledgeable and supportive volunteers, find resources and referrals, ask questions, or simply spend time in a space dedicated to inclusivity. Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members of all genders and sexualities are welcome.
We also know that everyone has a relationship to gender and sexuality, not just LGBTQ+ individuals. And while our space operates primarily as a necessary support and social space for LGBTQ+ folks, we are also open to anyone who doesn’t identify within the LGBTQ+ community.
So please drop-in whenever you have questions such as:
How do I support my friend who just came out as trans?
How do I conjugate this pronoun set I heard about?
What is demi-sexuality and does it make me queer if I think I identify as such?
How do I get involved in promoting gender inclusive washrooms in my building?
Do you do presentations for faculty members that I have overheard saying problematic things about specific genders?
Do you have any advice for safer sex or any free condoms?
And so much more!
