The Landing offers customized workshops, presentations, and consultations on gender and sexual diversity and related topics. These sessions are available free of charge to all members of the U of A community. Presentations include interactive activities and typically cover the following topics:
- Basic gender theory (e.g. differences and interactions between gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, etc)
- Common terminology and language (e.g. LGBTQ+ acronym and identities)
- Transgender experience and non-binary genders, including gender inclusive pronouns and language
- Tips and strategies for creating safe and inclusive spaces for people of all genders and sexualities
Workshops can also be tailored to particular needs. Contact us by email at email@example.com with requests.
The Institute for Sexual Minority Studies and Services also offers Safe Spaces presentations featuring student panelists from The Landing. These sessions can be booked via iSMSS.
Awareness campaigns throughout the year are done in partnership with various groups or organizations at the U of A or in the broader Edmonton community. The purpose of awareness campaigns is to increase the visibility of issues affecting gender minorities and communities within the LGBTQPIA+ umbrella and promote work being done to create a safer, more inclusive world.
You Can Play Project
The You Can Play project is dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and safety for all athletes without regard to sexual orientation and gender identity, and provides services to help ensure that athletes are given a fair opportunity to compete, and be judged by other athletes and fans alike based only by what they can contribute to their sport or their team’s success.
The Landing is a proud collaborator on this video along with iSMSS and Jeff Allen Productions.
